Aldo Fabrizi was a prominent Italian actor and filmmaker who emerged in the 1940s, known for his foundational role in the development of Italian neorealism and his subsequent contributions to Italian comedy.
He is primarily recognized for his portrayal of the priest Don Pietro in Roberto Rossellini's Rome, Open City, as well as his popular comedic collaborations with actor Totò.
His filmography spans both serious, gritty neorealist dramas and the lighthearted, socially satirical Commedia all'italiana genre, often directing his own projects.
