One passion, two instruments. Līva Strazdiņa is a Berlin-born musician of Latvian descent who plays the trumpet and flugelhorn and also composes music. The instrument she chooses depends on the mood she wants to convey. 'I love the flugelhorn for its softer, darker tone. At some point, I realised that I could express my musical ideas particularly well on the flugelhorn." Now everything is coming together: Līva is releasing her debut album, Unspoken, which features many of her own compositions as well as a cover of Billy Joel's 'Honesty' and an arrangement of the popular Latvian folk song 'Pūt, Vējiņi' (roughly translated as 'Blow, little wind, blow').
