Aircraft is the solo project of Ukrainian musician Danyil Merkulov, founded in Kyiv in 2011. What began as a minimal experiment with drum machines, guitar, and voice evolved into a decade-spanning body of work blending lo-fi shoegaze, dream pop, and synth-driven melancholy. The debut Ultralow introduced a fragile aesthetic, while Aeria (2015) marked a shift toward synthpop; its title track later found viral life on TikTok and released with massive digital label Kurate. Subsequent releases moved into darker, more cinematic territory. The LP 2011 , completed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, refined years of sonic exploration. In 2024, Evidence collected works from 2020–2024. His latest album, Death is around the corner , released on his Berlin-based label Digital downshifting, dives into darkwave and trip-hop textures — intimate, brooding, and minimalist. Now based in Berlin, Aircraft tours internationally as a duo with Mykyta Mekalin and performs both live and as a DJ.
