Alex & The Fat Penguins is an alternative rock band founded in 2016. Their music encompasses the small and big revolutions that either take place in our hearts or in the streets. Alex’s inspiration can come from a wide range of emotions or concerns: it can be a intimate experience like losing a loved one, (Quantum Physics) a personal history like his family’s dramatic loses after the Soviet occupation (Ursul), the positive perspective of rebirth and restart (Somebody) or the overwhelming social problems that affect us all (injustice, corruption - Just a Fool, war - Amiral, the dangers faced by the environment). In 2017, during a massive protest movement in Romania against ordinance bills that were proposed by the Ministry of Justice regarding the pardoning of certain committed crimes, the band performed their anti-corruption anthem, Just a Fool, in front of the Government building, being appreciated by protesters, but sanctioned by the authorities. Though the band is Romanian based, Alex, the leader and main songwriter, is currently living in France where he works as a dentist. However, the 2000 km between the band members seem to be just a couple of miles thanks to their passion for music. The band's debut album, Cardiosonic, is out now!
