Amir Darabi is an Iranian pianist, composer, producer, and singer. His music can be described as an expression of his imagination and a quest to find different balances in music, between traditional and modern music, electronic and organic, and between his hometown Iran and the wider world. Amir's music blends a wide range of genres, including Jazz, Electronic, House, and Persian traditional. As he advances in his career, he embraces the exploration of new sounds, making it challenging to neatly categorize his music within any specific genre. Darabi established himself as Iran’s upcoming prodigy by winning multiple awards, including Iran's Young Talented Musician Prize for two consecutive years at the ages of five and eight. To further develop his skills, Amir moved to Boston at the age of 19 to study Piano Performance at the renowned Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. There, he delved deeper into the music of his home country and began to combine it with Western elements, resulting in his latest EP, "YAAL." Throughout his career, Amir has performed alongside some of the most reputable musicians in Iran and worldwide, such as Zakir Hussain, Homayoun Shajarian, the Berklee Indian Ensemble, and Mahan Mirarab. He is also a Grammy® nominee with the Berklee Indian Ensemble for their debut album, "Shuruaat".
Amir Darabi's music is a blend of traditional Persian melodies with contemporary jazz, electronic, and house elements, often featuring his piano compositions and production. His EP "YAAL" showcases this unique fusion.
