Automaton

Loud doom/black/psychedelic band. Blending heavy riffs, minimalism and psychedelia into a varied, entrancing, gripping and just plain heavy style. Labyrinth is the band’s third full-length album, released on 12 June 2026. Inspired by the ancient Greek myth of the Minoan Labyrinth, the album draws the listener into an allegorical journey through dark twists and treacherous trails. The labyrinth becomes a metaphor for the confusing pathways modern societies force us to navigate while we search for a true and meaningful path. The album follows Echoes of Mount Ida (Trailblazer EP 2013; Sound Effect Records LP 2014) and Talos (Sound Effect Records, 2018), further expanding Automaton’s distinctive world of immersive heaviness, layered textures and mythic thematic scope. Echoes of Mount Ida was described as a “spacey, sludgy… transcendental experience,” while Talos sharpened the band’s cinematic and compositional reach, blending doom, drone and black metal elements into a towering and devastating work. The latter also featured a notable collaboration with legendary Cretan lyra player Psarantonis, further strengthening the band’s place within the contemporary Greek heavy music landscape.
