Baratro is a three-piece band from Milano, Italy formed by Dave Curran on bass, Luca Antonozzi on drums and Federico Bonuccelli on guitar and backing vocals. The band is a convergence of musical minds across generations, blending experience, innovation, and raw talent into a sonic tapestry unlike any other. Formed in 2019, this trio embarked on a journey to redefine contemporary music, drawing inspiration from the depths of their diverse backgrounds, a beacon of raw passion and untapped potential. Together, these three musicians form a symbiotic relationship, each bringing their unique perspective and strengths to the table. The result is a musical fusion that transcends genres and defies categorization, weaving together elements of noise-rock, stoner, and hardcore/punk into a seamless tapestry of sound. Their debut album, "The Sweet Smell of Unrest," released february 2024 via Improved Sequence, is a testament to their collective vision and unparalleled chemistry. Each song explores a different texture of Baratro’s arsenal, and while their sonic essence is clearly recognizable in every track there is a variety of moods to be expected – from uptempo hardcore assaults to nasty doomy breakdowns, all mixed up with their penchant for odd time signatures and heavy grooves. Dave Curran and the band took care of the whole recording process from tracking to mastering.
Baratro plays an aggressive blend of noise rock, sludge metal, and post-hardcore rooted in the Milan underground scene.
