Dutch artist and producer Birgit de Priester first gained recognition in 2021 with her self-produced EP “okay”. Praised by The Revue as “sublime” and “demanding years of cultivation,” the EP offered a poetic exploration of time, identity, and culture. Following the EP, her 2023 single “Meditating in Asia” was featured on Highclouds’ Best Tracks of the Year and described as “a tantalizing preview of her much-anticipated debut album.” Critics have noted her as “one of the more interesting upcoming artists” (The Other Side Review). On October 18, 2024, Birgit released her debut album “Made 4 Fun”, featuring collaborations with GRAMMY-winning trombonist Denzel Mendoza, Marthe Lasthuis (Honingbeer), Wouter van Nienes (Laplander) and Silvan van der Zwaag (Holyoke). The album contrasts introspection with a playful energy, weaving themes of love, loss, womanhood, and existential exploration. After the album’s release, Birgit retreated to the peaceful French countryside where she collaborated with Silvan van der Zwaag to record her new album. The songs in this collection are deeply rooted in nature’s poetry, intertwining detailed guitar patterns and ambient field recordings creating worlds that invite contemplation and stillness.
