DJ Maestro, born Martijn Barkhuis in the Netherlands, is a Dutch DJ, producer, and composer best known for curating the acclaimed Blue Note Trip series. Fusing classic jazz with modern grooves, his work bridges generations—bringing jazz to new audiences while honoring its roots. Recognized by the legendary Blue Note Records, Maestro revitalized their catalog with genre-blending mixes that became staples in lounges and sophisticated spaces worldwide. In 2015, his remix project Little Girl Blue Remixed offered a fresh take on Nina Simone’s debut album, earning critical praise for its respectful yet inventive approach. Beyond compilations, DJ Maestro has collaborated with artists, big bands, and jazz musicians, and expanded into film scoring, live shows, and remixes. Rooted in jazz, soul, and downtempo, his sound continues to blend heritage with innovation.
