Underground καλλιτέχνης alt country
Morgan Geer is the American singer/songwriter/guitarist behind Drunken Prayer, and current guitar player for iconic alt-country goths Freakwater. Recently Morgan has been touring internationally opening for The Handsome Family. Geer spent much of last year on the road in support of his 2019 release “Cordelia Elsewhere,” an album that pondered the thoroughly mixed-up state of America -- and the individual American -- in the Trump era. But 2020 is, well, a whole different bag. Now, a few weeks into an experiment in forced solitude due to a global pandemic, Geer has a song that speaks to the particular madness of our moment. The new single “Crazy Alone (Quarantine)” is a playfully loco tune about losing your shit. In It’s all him, a sonic hall of mirrors for those of us staring at our reflections and wondering what the hell is going on. The latest Drunken Prayer album, CORDELIA ELSEWHERE, mixed by Mitch Easter (REM, Let's Active), was officially released on April 5th, 2019. Over the past two years Drunken Prayer has played hundreds of venues across 18 countries and 48 US states including the Newport Folk Festival. Morgan Geer is currently working remotely with Paul Oldham (Palace Brothers) on a new LP which will come out some time after the world gets up and running again. "Morgan Geer is the real thing - a songwriter with a heart as deep as the Marianas Trench and sensitive as the wet hands of a raccoon." - Rennie Sparks, The Handsome Family
Drunken Prayer plays a gritty blend of alt-country, Americana, and cosmic gospel anchored by roots-rock instrumentation and wry lyricism.
