The Shape Of Things That Never Came (TSOTTC) – a release that consistently develops the unique sonic world of this seven-piece ensemble. Led by bassist and composer Beate Wiesinger, the group was awarded the Austrian Jazz Prize 2024 for Best Album "Timeless Warrior" and is regarded as one of the most compelling voices in the current Austrian jazz scene. ​ Since its founding in 2017, E C H O BOOMER has played with audience expectations, shifting between chamber-like intimacy, electronic textures, and jazz-based improvisation – always searching for new modes of expression. With TSOTTC, the ensemble further refines its musical language, adding new nuances and allowing each member’s distinct musical voice to emerge more clearly – as soloists within a collective that constantly negotiates between composition and improvisation. In both form and content, the album is a richly layered journey: an amalgam of pop, noise, and contemporary classical music meets atmospheric soundscapes and lyrical fragments that evoke the vastness of outer space. The experimental treatment of the material – primarily composed by Wiesinger – opens up a space where tradition and the present moment, structure and freedom, converge in surprising ways. The Shape Of Things That Never Came will be released on 16th of June 2025 and marks another milestone in the evolution of an ensemble defined by its distinctive sound, fearless stylistic openness, and strong collective vision.
