Ella Fitz

I’m Ella Fitz, a jazz and bossa nova singer-songwriter with frost in my bones and swing in my step. I was born in Antarctica, where the horizon hums and the silence teaches you how to listen. My first audiences were penguins—excellent critics, immaculately dressed, and completely unimpressed unless the groove was right. I learned early that if you can make a colony of penguins sway, you can make anyone feel something. I write songs that melt a little ice: brushed drums, warm guitar, melodies that drift like snow. Jazz taught me how to wander; bossa nova taught me how to smile while doing it. I sing about distance, desire, and finding heat in cold places. When I’m not onstage, I’m still singing—sometimes to rooms full of people, sometimes to penguins—because music travels better when it’s honest, and it always sounds sweeter when it’s shared.
