One of the breakout bands from Chicago's buzzing indie scene, Friko returns with ‘Something Worth Waiting For’, their anticipated sophomore album. Produced by Grammy-winning producer John Congleton (Angel Olsen, St Vincent), the album embraces a bolder sense of abandon, exploring noise-rock, avant-garde classical & 70s-era symphonic balladry, and themes of transit, transition, loneliness and connection. As they assembled songs for the new album, Friko mined inspiration from their endless state of motion over the past two years on a globe-spanning tour in support of their full-length debut - which landed on best-of-the-year lists from the likes of Pitchfork, the cover of NME, and led to glowing acclaim from Rolling Stone, Paste, NPR Music, and SPIN - including festivals from Japan’s Fuji Rock to Paris and London’s Pitchfork Festival, Newport Folk and Lollapalooza, headlining shows all over North America, England, Europe, and Asia, as well as touring with seminal alt-rock acts like The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse, Water From Your Eyes and Black Country New Road. Equal parts sonically extravagant and emotionally searing, ‘Something Worth Waiting For’ ultimately locates a wildly elusive balance between the wide-eyed idealism of youth and the self-possessed grit of lived experience.
