Gina Young

Born and raised in Washington DC, Gina started playing in bands at the tail end of the riot grrrl era, studied theater at NYU/Tisch and began playing guitar in coffee shops on the Lower East Side. She toured the US and Europe as a singer/songwriter for years, playing queer and feminist events like LADYFEST and opening for artists like Le Tigre, Team Dresch and Kimya Dawson. Gina went on to found TEAM GINA, the queer femme electronic pop duo who became internationally known for their viral video "Butch/Femme" that has over a quarter of a million hits on YouTube. Gina currently lives in Los Angeles where she is a multi award-winning writer and director for theater, film and television. She is the founder of SORORITY, a queer performance platform with a cult following that she is currently adapting into a digital series, and uses she and they pronouns.
