DJ's Hipp-E (born Eric Galaviz) and Halo (born Brian Varga) had a mutual desire to produce the kind of tasteful house music they were spinning in their sets, and joined forces to form the versatile sound system H-Foundation. Based in San Diego, H-Foundation is one of the few American production teams that has found success in the U.K. tech-house scene, with a residency at London's Fabric club and exposure on radio from high-profile DJs Pete Tong and Carl Cox. Singles and EPs on Soma, Siesta, and Low Recordings brought them to the attention of the Chemical Brothers, who enlisted them to remix "Come With Us." Their first mix CD, Nite: Life 02, appeared in 2001 on NRK Sound Division, bringing more remix work and compilation appearances. H-Foundation's sophisticated sound received wide exposure with the pair's full-length debut, the ambitious Environments, released on Astralwerks in 2003. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
H-Foundation is known for their tasteful blend of deep house, tech house, and dub-influenced house music, with early productions like "Hear Dis Sound" becoming a blueprint for the sound.
