Irma

I was born and raised in Cameroon and have spent much of my life between Africa and Europe. Music has always been the place where those worlds meet, but also the place where labels disappear. As a student in Paris, I started sharing my songs on YouTube. What began as a way to connect through music slowly grew into something much bigger. Hundreds of thousands of records found their way into people's homes, and my guitar carried me across oceans to people who sang the words to songs I had once written alone in my childhood bedroom. I toured, collaborated, chased ideas, the sun, a few dreams, and mostly myself. I made mistakes, learned a lot, disappeared for a while, then came back. Somewhere along the way, I stopped to ask myself why I was doing any of it in the first place. The answer was always the same: an unconditional love of music. It is the only thing I have ever truly known how to do. I am endlessly fascinated by the act of returning to an instrument or an idea until it reveals something true. I hope these songs can soften, bring comfort where it is needed, and let hearts move like rivers. I hope they feel like a balm and a hand to hold when the world becomes too loud. If there is a thread running through everything you'll find here, it is the belief that love travels further than fear ever will.
