We are here. There - is the abyss. All we have is now. Bree sings of the truths, half-truths, and damn lies we tell ourselves and others, just to cling to something warm before the great cold takes us over. What is that warmth? The kindled fire of sex? The cold comfort of religion? Or the reptilian pleasure of dominion or submission? Our lives are a mix of fear, loathing, desire, and acceptance of the above - and the endless negotiation of it all before we die. Humankind has always carried darkness, both within and without. Bree embraces it with a lived-in weariness that weighs on him like the sack on a kitten thrown into the river.
