Kasia Pietrzko - Polish jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. Following the release of her debut album with Kasia Pietrzko Trio (2017), she has quickly gained recognition and attracted interest as a leading young artist, not only in Poland, but throughout Europe as well. Her first album, “Forthright Stories” (2017), proved a great success and garnered such awards as Polish Radio 3’s “Mateusz” and a Fryderyk nomination. Her success also led to performances as part of Tomasz Stańko’s quartet in 2018. She was to join that artist’s new quartet’s concert tour, which was, however interrupted by Stańko’s death. In 2020, Kasia’s trio presented its second album, “Ephemeral Pleasures”, which consistently maintained the band’s style while developing its unique language. Third album “Fragile Ego” contains sensual jazz piano music with sublime combination of harmonic inventiveness, lyricism, feminine energy and boundless creativity. On Kasia Pietrzko Trio albums, the leader is accompanied by Andrzej Święs and Piotr Budniak, who contribute enormously to the band’s sound, featuring as the pianist’s equal partners. Their separate voices derive from quite different musical worlds and inspirations. Both these voices can distinctly be heard since in her concept of the music Pietrzko left a wide space for the other band members, allowing them to develop their own individual musical narrations.
Kasia Pietrzko Trio plays contemporary acoustic jazz characterized by memorable lyricism, harmonic inventiveness, and intricate piano arrangements released on the Polish Jazz Series.
