Kepler Is Free

Kepler is Free is an Athens-based jazz-rock ensemble featuring George Migdanis (electric guitar), Nik Nugent (keys), Spyros Zardas (trumpet), Vasilis Alexopoulos (bass), and Panos Georgakopoulos (drums). Formed in November 2018, the band was originally founded by drummer Sokratis Tsentoglou together with Migdanis, Nugent, Zardas, and Alexopoulos—five musicians from diverse backgrounds united by a shared drive to create original material. The band released its debut album Teegarden on June 1, 2020, via Veego Records, followed by its sophomore record Second Light on June 6, 2023. Later that year, Panos Georgakopoulos joined the group as the new drummer. In 2023, Kepler is Free also released a successful cover of “Spike Lee” by renowned Greek rapper LEX, reinterpreting the track through their distinctive nu-jazz lens. Having performed in numerous major venues across Greece, the band reached a milestone in 2024 by opening the live show of @BADBADNOTGOOD, marking one of their most celebrated performances to date.
