With significant orchestral debuts as well as numerous returns across the Nordic territory and beyond, Finnish conductor Kristian Sallinen is rapidly gaining international attention. The 2025/26 season includes several high-profile engagements, among them subscription debuts with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra (season-closing concerts), Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symfoniorkester and Oulu Sinfonia, as well as Sallinen’s opera debut with the Finnish National Opera in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta. First-time collaborations during the season include the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Gävle Symphony Orchestra, and his Australian debut with the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra. Return engagements – all subscriptions – feature the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, and Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música. Sallinen’s repertoire ranges from Mozart, Beethoven and Sibelius to Kodály, Stravinsky and Bacewicz, alongside a strong interest in contemporary music.
