Lawrence Rothman’s forthcoming fifth studio album, Here Lies Love / Sawdust to Stardust, is their most revealing work to date. Written and recorded between Biarritz, France and Nashville, Tennessee, the album embraces Americana while transcending genre boundaries. Produced and mixed entirely by Rothman at Sound Emporium, in Nashville. The songs explore addiction, recovery, grief, identity, anxiety, lost love, and the tension between who we were and who we're still becoming. “Sawdust is what’s left after the work. Stardust is what remains when survival becomes meaning,” Rothman says. “After twenty years as a singer, the voice itself becomes archaeological. This album is a reckoning between every version of myself that got buried along the way.” Following acclaimed albums including The Plow That Broke the Plains, Good Morning, America, and the 2017 debut The Book of Law, Rothman has built a catalog defined by vulnerability, transformation, and hard-won truth. Here Lies Love / Sawdust to Stardust stands as the clearest expression of that journey yet—an Americana record built from the ongoing narration of a life in progress. Throughout their career, Rothman has collaborated with artists including Kim Gordon, Angel Olsen, Courtney Love, Charli XCX, Katie Pruitt, Amanda Shire,Jason Isbell, Caroline Rose, Tift Merritt and Lucinda Williams, helping shape a body of work defined by curiosity and self-expression.
