Musician and artist, accordionist, performer and composer, Lionel Suarez develops a distinctive voice through a wide range of artistic forms. His path was shaped by the popular traditions of dance halls and song, the discipline of classical training, the carefree spirit of the pop standards of his generation, and improvisation as a promise of freedom. An instinctive jazz musician and multi-instrumentalist, he brings an orchestral, highly rhythmic approach in which delicacy meets power. After an intense period as a sought-after sideman in France and beyond, contributing to over a hundred albums and performances alongside leading figures from song, jazz, cinema and theatre, he now develops his own projects as a leader, most often in duo, a form he particularly values.
