Lucie Shame can use several lives. Trained in classical piano, immerged in grunge culture and poetry in her teen-age, she created her first songs when she was in high school, before experiencing a marginal life, from mental hospital to roaming about with tramps and settling down with one of them. It did not end bad. A motherhood, a widowhood, a coming-out later , “her life has stood – a loaded gun” and she wrote songs again-after 15 years of silence. Feral love child of PJ Harvey and Kurt Cobain, she writes songs with her guts, using raw feelings and chiseled songwriting. All she wants is for you to feel feelings. Ezra Furman is her most recent role model. Her first album is due November 26. Happiness is a warm gun.
