Maffa Rico is a Los Angeles–based indie outfit curated by musician, engineer, and producer Bradley Giroux. The group features Giroux (vocals, guitar) alongside Will Cady (bass), Sam Morgan (saxophone, percussion), and Greg Settino (drums). Originally formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 2012, Maffa Rico began as a project rooted in creating music for skate videos. Over time, it evolved into a richly textured sound defined by sun-baked drum and bass grooves, layered beneath intricate guitar and saxophone lines. Drawing from the spirit of late-’60s and early-’70s jazz and funk, the band blends vintage influences with a modern indie sensibility. Maffa Rico’s sound pulls from a wide range of inspirations, including LCD Soundsystem Funkadelic , Red Hot Chili Peppers , Gorillaz , Roy Ayers Ubiquity , Miles Davis , Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Jorge Ben Jor, The Arcs and David Bowie —resulting in music that feels both nostalgic and forward-leaning.
