Malena Cadiz is a lady of the canyon waylaid at a suburban strip mall, acutely aware of how romance shines through even in the moments of grit and desolation. There’s something Didion-esque about Cadiz’s storytelling as she crafts deeply personal vignettes that reveal greater narratives about the world we live in. A captivating songwriter with an unmistakable voice. Filipina American, she grew up between two worlds, moving back and forth from the suburbs of Michigan with her mother and bustling Singapore with her father. “I always felt rootless, not quite belonging to either place.” This longing for home and search for center rests at the heart of Cadiz’s work. American Songwriter has likened her work to early Emmylou or Bob Dylan and NPR compared her to "an earthbound Joanna Newsom, Cadiz has a voice that grabs you within seconds." Cadiz has released several albums to date and toured the U.S and Europe. Her 3rd full length record “Hellbent and Moonbound” will be released on in Fall 2023. She now lives in Los Angeles.
Malena Cadiz plays indie folk and Americana music, characterized by her acoustic-driven sound and deeply personal storytelling, often drawing comparisons to artists like Emmylou Harris and Joanna Newsom.
