MaloMalo’s Story, written by our dearest friend and amazing writer Mick Boskamp. Sometimes there are moments when everything falls into place. For the DJ/producer duo MaloMalo from Scheveningen, that moment came during the sun-drenched Hartstocht Festival in Elp, Drenthe. From the first to the last track that was played, it was a party. And not just any party, but a party where everyone bares their teeth and dances as if there was no tomorrow. At that illustrious festival, where the cream of the national and international dance scene performed, the MaloMalo sound was embraced, firmly embraced. The story of MaloMalo is the story of a long search for a sound that would express the love of Arno and Zella, both for each other and for dance music. A sound with guts, soul and ‘cojones’, a daring sound rich in contrasts. Raw and tasteful, full and minimal, a sound of then, now and tomorrow. Many sets, for a large part in the capital of Holland, followed: ‘Floorplay’ at Loods12 and Resident DJ nights and ‘Nooitmeerhuiswaards’ Kingsday party at Club Noordwaards. Kadinsky Invites at Kadinsky Café, the Mecca of Progressive House in the Netherlands. Amsterdam Most Wanted, livestream radio shows for AMW Melodic Fushion and their special edition: ADE AMW Marathon. Psybolic at the Jungle, BRAK and unique venues and parties for the real dance-connaisseurs. It should come as no surprise that there are quite a few MaloMalo related surprises in the pipeline.
