Maurizio Ravalico

Maurizio Ravalico is a percussionist, composer, producer and explorer of the sound of all things. Based in London since 1991, he is also frequently collaborating with productions in France, Germany and Italy. His lifelong penchant for cross-pollinating ideas, musical styles and art forms has led him to navigate successfully in realms as divergent as funk, pop, salsa, theatre, contemporary dance, experimental composition, poetry, free-form improvisation, jazz and electronic music. Maurizio has played with Paul McCartney, Jamiroquai, the James Taylor Quartet, Paul Young, Snowboy, Alex Wilson, Steve Beresford, Pat Thomas, Eska Mtungwazi, Dele Sosimi and many others. These days Maurizio is playing percussion with Tamar Osborn's Collocutor, Phil Dawson's quintet, the extended string quartet Phaedra Ensemble, and singer/songwriters Noga Ritter and Attawalpa. He has toured all over Europe with his solo percussion act between 2017 and 2019, and released his solo repertoire on the album 'Nobody's Husband, Nobody's Dad'. His most recent project is A Thousand Rawhide Diaphragms, an album composed and performed entirely on conga drums. Maurizio also run a more academically-oriented project, called The New Conga Lab, an online platform of new studies for conga drums.
