Ντόπιο, underground σχήμα shoegaze
Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band are a six-piece ensemble, playing what they call "shoehaze": a dense, layered collision of blues rock, punk, jazz, shoegaze, and baroque-pop textures, anchored by cello, saxophone, and occasional guitar solos. The result is expansive and moody, sitting somewhere between the wall-of-sound energy of My Bloody Valentine, the grit of The Stooges and Hüsker Dü, the melancholy of The Smiths, and the theatricality of Florence + The Machine. The band was founded by frontman Anton Marchenko, who walked away from a successful project in 2015 to build something on his own terms. Eleven years later, that decision is starting to speak for itself. Their debut album, Forced Fun For The Just OK Life, was released in early 2025, earning a #4 ranking from York Calling and coverage from A&R Factory. Their standout single, Hroma Zirgs/Catch Me Now, serves as a direct hit against fake authority and narcissism, successfully entering the Latvian Radio NABA Top 10. Keeping the momentum alive, their subsequent single, The Lake/Ezers, recently received airplay on Lithuania's LRT OPUS and Latvia's SWH radio stations.
They play an expansive blend of shoegaze, blues rock, punk, and baroque-pop textures, frequently incorporating cello and saxophone into their arrangements.
