Miguel Brooking
The collateral impact of heartbreak and the vertigo of unpredictable plot-twist sent Miguel spinning into the gravitational pull of Australia. With pockets of songs forged from the musical scenes of Bristol and London, he quietly honed his craft in the background of theatrical acting pursuits, and eventually washed up on the eastern shore with a guitar case. His first release ‘Paint’ marked the beginning of this chapter of musical commitment; framing a soundscape ode to creativity at large. Paint was closely followed by ‘Sweet Honey’ - a one-take live acoustic performance which became an ‘Ear-worm pick’ on BBC introducing radio a week later. A song that began its life in his Bristol bedroom and developed itself throughout open-mic venues along the Australian east coast. Miguel’s second studio release ‘Impossible to Be’ is a statement of arrival in the Melbourne music scene. An unabashed soundscape of the energy that Miguel and his band bring to the live stage; the sound of an artist finding his footing and relishing in his expression. The sound of a young man navigating the throws of modern romance and dancing away his frustrations. His ‘Nashville Sound’ clearly influenced by the storytelling of country & blues music combined with golden-age soul. Proudly proclaiming to ‘Put the guitar back on the radio,’ and he’s ‘barely rolled up his sleeves.’
