Nakibembe Embaire Group

The Nakibembe Embaire Group is a collective from Nakibembe, Uganda, dedicated to preserving and performing traditional Basoga music on the embaire, an immense log xylophone. Up to eight players create intricate, hypnotic polyrhythms, often accompanied by vocals, shakers, and drums. Their unique sound has garnered international attention, leading to appearances at the Nyege Nyege festival and even Berghain, showcasing the global appeal of their deeply rooted cultural expression.
