Underground, ντόπιο σχήμα noise rock
NORMANS is a Southern California–based electronic music project formed in 2021 by visual artist Matthew Reid (Blonde Summer), Michael Perry Rudes (FEELS), and Kyle Souza (Prissy Whip). The project operates through disciplined electronic structures, repetition, and low-frequency pressure, producing work that foregrounds physicality, control, and formal restraint. Early critical responses identified the group’s confrontational approach and temporal ambiguity. Scene Point Blank described NORMANS as “synth-laced noise punk reminiscent of 1979, 1994, 2011 and 2024,” while Buzzbands.la characterized the project as “dark, menacing, ear-splitting and chaotic.” These initial releases established a foundation rooted in tension, urgency, and refusal of stylistic comfort. The release of Faust Demonica marks a significant development in both production and conceptual clarity. The record emphasizes precision, atmosphere, and compositional discipline, situating electronic rhythm and melody within a more controlled and deliberate framework. Informed in part by Reid’s engagement with G. I. Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way and related esoteric traditions, the album integrates symbolic and ritualistic elements across both sound and visual presentation. Themes of authority, submission, and awakening recur throughout the work, positioning Faust Demonica as an examination of power, consciousness, and psychological conditioning rather than narrative expression.
NORMANS plays a tense, synth-laced blend of noise rock and post-punk rooted in disciplined electronic structures and low-frequency pressure.
