These are melodic, beat-driven instrumental songs written by a gardener. They are wordless stories about struggling against misinformation, about rejecting moral panics, and about abandoning anthropocentrism. In a longterm scheme to support their agricultural enterprises, beatmaker Nym has spent more than a decade tricking a growing audience into streaming their music. They do this by carefully weaving sounds together into an overall pleasing composition. Most listeners are unaware that they have even been deceived. In 2022, Spotify recognized Nym as having collected more hickory nuts than any other living instrumental hip hop producer on the planet. Nym lives on an urban farm in what is called Durham, NC, USA. Here, they gathers mushrooms, operates a chicken-powered composting facility, and converts grass lawns into productive neighborhood/community gardens.
