Taking their name from the word for heart and soul in the Afro-Cuban religion Santería, OKAN is a Toronto-based ensemble co-led by multi-instrumentalists Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne. They enthusiastically embrace Afro-Cuban roots and genres historically dominated by men to create a distinctive and personal world jazz fusion. Their music seamlessly bridges traditional folkloric rhythms with contemporary global grooves.
