Oran Ray

Oran Ray is a Berlin-based drummer and producer known for performing immersive live electronic music on an acoustic drum kit with machine-level precision. Using extreme control over timing, dynamics, and articulation, he treats the drum set like a sequencer—reproducing and reinterpreting drum-machine patterns through live human performance. Rooted in jazz improvisation and shaped by UK jungle and Berlin’s underground club culture, Oran’s work blurs the line between programmed rhythm and embodied expression. Micro-timing, swing, and subtle dynamic shifts allow rigid breakbeat structures to breathe, transforming mechanical systems into fluid, living rhythm.
