Philipp Maria Rosenberg

Philipp Maria Rosenberg is a Swiss pianist, composer, and arranger whose artistry moves between the freedom of jazz and the richness of classical tradition. After formative years at the renowned Jazzcampus Basel, where he studied under Hans Feigenwinter, Lester Menezes, Tobias Schabenberger and Guillermo Klein and graduated summa cum laude, he refined his voice through encounters with Brad Mehldau, Aaron Parks, Ethan Iverson, Aaron Goldberg, Larry Grenadier, and Mark Turner. At the center of his work stands his trio Rotwelsch with Florian Kolb (bass) and Jordi Pallarés (drums). Here Rosenberg bridges the worlds of jazz and operetta, reimagining the sweeping melodies of great operettas in a new, contemporary light. Romantic flair and improvisational freedom intertwine, creating an atmosphere that is both intimate and expansive, nostalgic yet daring. With over 100 concerts since 2022 and international recognition including being named one of the “Best Jazz Releases 2022” by Japan’s Portrait in Jazz — Rotwelsch has become a vital voice in shaping a “Great European Songbook”.
