Underground καλλιτέχνης nu jazz
Hailing from Chicago’s South Side, Phraim wields a host of eclectic and tonal production chops that marry the gritty with the tantalizing. His sets with Chicago’s longstanding Push Beats collective ultimately led to a feature with the city’s edition of RAWS, an intimate creative party held in a small club in Tokyo where underground beat-heads unite. The success of RAWS Chicago spurred meetings between Phraim and organizer Alejandro Ayala, aka King Hippo, resulting in the founding of Fresh Roasted, a live beat making battle in which Phraim was first champion. Since his hiatus from exhibition, Phraim has provided guest production and remixes all while ensuring a healthy dose of solo instrumental projects that progressively project his sound and methodology.
Phraim creates instrumental music that blends nu jazz, downtempo, and hip-hop, characterized by eclectic and tonal production chops, as heard in his work with the Push Beats collective.
