Born in China and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Shai FM is a DJ and producer whose cross-cultural upbringing directly informs his approach to the dancefloor. Drawing from a well of influences spanning UK bass, techno, and global club music, he explores the connecting thread between disparate sounds. Now Philadelphia-based, he hosts a monthly show on Great Circles Radio, has performed at Philly’s Making Time festival, and was featured on Resident Advisor’s Mix of the Day. He’s shared stages with artists like Batu, Sister Zo, and Nikki Nair, earning a reputation for shapeshifting sets anchored by low-end pressure. As a producer, his tracks have earned spins on platforms like Dekmantel, Rinse FM, NTS and The Lot Radio, along with support from artists like Om Unit, Interstellar Funk, Re:ni, Aloka, Teqmun and more. His latest EP Polarize on Elicit Records channels razor-sharp rhythms and immersive sound design into a statement of precision. With a distinct sonic signature and more forward-thinking material on the horizon, Shai FM is steadily carving out his own space in the contemporary electronic landscape.
