Shellings was born in Gaborone, Botswana and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, later completing high school in Harare before moving to the UK in search of greater opportunities. His musical journey began in church, where he discovered the power of singing in the choir. Growing up, he was deeply influenced by his aunt, whose passion for music filled her home with over 100 CDs and albums, and his cousin, whose early experiments with FL Studio sparked his own creative curiosity. In high school, Shellings returned to the choir and learned to play the piano and drums. He started experimenting with digital music on GarageBand and released his first instrumental, Yellow Lemons, on SoundCloud under the name Dredz. A turning point came when his school’s music team introduced him to Zimbabwean legend DJ Tamuka, whose creative insights left a lasting impact on his work. When Amapiano emerged in 2020, Shellings embraced the genre after exploring other styles like trap music. He found a true connection with Amapiano and went on to create his debut single, Yeah. His sound is influenced by artists such as Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, DJ Maphorisa, Virgo Deep, and Scotts Maphuma. Listeners can expect mind-mending productions that challenge reality and redefine musical boundaries. Shellings’ mission is to evoke inspirational feelings of love and openness, offering a sonic refuge in both the dark and the light moments of life.
Shellings primarily produces Amapiano, gqom, and 3 step, characterized by electronic beats and African influences, as heard in his debut single "Yeah".
