Underground καλλιτέχνης folk
silent neighbor, a Zurich-based collective around guitarist, singer, and composer Philipp Saner, has been crafting their distinctive sound for over a decade already. Their name was inspired by Tom Waits' spoken word piece "What's He Building In There?" and their motto echoes the wisdom of Bleeding Gums Murphy: "The blues isn't about feeling better. It's about making other people feel worse, and making a few bucks while you're at it." Saner's songwriting delves into the intricacies of human relationships through a unique blend of jazz, pop, rock, and country sounds. From a heart-wrenching ballad about a torn poster on Zurich's Langstrasse to the realization that life cannot exist beyond the G major chord, the band fearlessly explores existential depths while maintaining a sense of humor amidst tragedy. Their debut album, Tired Of Your Smile (2020), was described by radiomeltdown.ch as an "uncomfortable blessing."
