Sven Figee

Sven Figee Pianist, Organist, Music Director, Producer. Sven Figee is the Lucky Luke of the Hammond: he plays faster than his shadow and it is always striking. This man knows no limits on his instrument. From Bach to blues and from Vivaldi to Metallica. His physical way of making music is a feast for the eyes and ears: steaming, ringing, squeaking, crackling and intoxicating, but also poetic and intensely intimate. In 2006 he founded the band 'Sven Hammond' that since has released 10 albums. The new (11th) album titled ‘Cosmic Gold’ is set for release early 2025 and a single as well as a remix (It’s Aright) have recently been released. Besides his own project, Sven joined the band @ORBI (The Oscillating Revenge of the Background Instruments) a group that plays rock using a classical approach. Sven also was the musical director and side kick of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk for his Saturday night show on prime time Dutch TV called 'Matthijs Gaat Door'. His band appeared as an extended version and is called the 'Sven Hammond Big Band' - a 16-piece orchestra under direction of Sven. They made 40 episodes of this very successful show after which the big band set out to do a sold out theater tour honoring the music of the great Ray Charles. This tour will continue from September until November 2024. Always embarking on new adventures Sven has recently composed the sound score for the film ‘North Sea - Nature Untamed which will be released early September 2024.
