Trio E.T.A.

Founded in Hamburg in 2019, Trio E.T.A. takes its name from the romantic writer and composer E.T.A. Hoffmann. Hailed by the press as a worthy successor to the legendary Beaux Arts Trio, the ensemble performs a wide repertoire from the Classical era to contemporary pieces, including a work written for them by Isabel Mundry, which they premiered at the Elbphilharmonie in 2025. In May 2026, the trio won First Prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, returning to Japan for a ten-concert tour in 2027. Also winners of the German Music Competition and the Vienna International Music Competition, their second album will be released by NAXOS in summer 2026, featuring SWR-produced recordings of Franck, Grieg, and a trio formerly attributed to Brahms. Concerts have taken the trio to prestigious stages like Suntory Hall Tokyo, Musikverein Vienna, and Wigmore Hall London, as well as the Rheingau and Schwetzingen festivals. Selected as Britten Pears Young Artists for 2026/27 and part of the SWR2 New Talent programme since 2023, their work is regularly documented by networks like NDR, BR, and ARD Klassik. The musicians also achieve notable success as soloists with orchestras like the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Guided by mentors like Dirk Mommertz and Lukas Hagen, the trio is supported by the ECMA and NSKA academies.
