Wear Away is a hardcore band based in Los Angeles, CA. Although the band is new, their style and values scream old school Cali hardcore. Comprised of singer Nate Schultz (Lock/Jaw), guitarist/backing vocalist Memo Hernandez (Lock/Jaw), bassist Art Bertik (Despite Loyalty), guitarist Aren Hacobian (Despite Loyalty), and drummer Bernabe Macaraeg (Jhené Aiko, B.o.B, Big Sean). Wear Away brings the punk rock attitude and extreme metal mentality into their music. The riffs are heavy and nasty, and the emotionally charged lyrics follow suit with anger and outrage. As such, these songs are cathartic expressions of depression and frustration against a broken system that's corrupt by design. The disgust and disdain for corruption in politics, religion, and society is palpable. This hatred is justified with righteous indignation. Their grungy instrumentation, heavy melodies, and bleak lyrics are actually empowering and inspiring. These blood-boiling rhythms are perfect for headbanging, moshing, and slam dancing. Wear Away have been carving a name for themselves in the world of hardcore, punk, and metal. With an impressive lineup of established musicians, they have already garnered a faithful cult following of dedicated fans. As they continue to play shows and write new songs, their reputation grows. More original material is yet to come, as Wear Away hones their craft to perfection. -Cheryl Lynn, UndeadGoathead.com
