Will Lyle

Will Lyle (born 1994) is a bassist, bandleader, composer, arranger, and producer based in New York City. Upon graduating from Berklee College of Music, he joined GRAMMY-award winning drummer Billy Kilson's quartet on a tour to Japan in 2017. After returning, he moved to Los Angeles and joined pianist Jon Mayer's Trio (alumnus of John Coltrane, Sarah Vaughan, and Thad Jones/Mel Lewis big band), with Roy McCurdy (of Cannonball Adderley's group) on drums. He moved to New York in 2021. He has performed and/or recorded with Ralph Peterson, Dave Kikoski, Benny Bennack III, Dayna Stephens, Duane Eubanks, Lewis Nash, Joe LaBarbera, Kendrick Scott, Philip Harper, Winard Harper, Grant Stewart, John Webber (on bass and guitar), David Binney, Mike LeDonne, Myron Walden, Helen Sung, Chris Byars, Eric Alexander, Joe Farnsworth, Rodney Green, Anthony Wonsey, Billy Kilson, Cecil Alexander, Stacy Dillard, Jeb Patton, Billy Drummond, J.D. Allen, David Hazeltine, Rick Germanson, Bill Cunliffe, Pasquale Grasso, Ralph Moore, John Colianni, Steve Little (Duke Ellington alumnus), Ingrid Jensen, Stefano Doglioni, Bruce Harris, Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Bob Sheppard, Randy Napoleon, Barbara Morrison, Victory Boyd, and Sumerian Records artist Bones UK. Lyle has over 30 album recording credits to his name. In September 2025, he was credited on Belinda Carlisle (of the Go-Go’s) album “Once Upon a Time in California”, performing upright bass on her cover of “One” by Harry Nilsson.
