Yekwon Sunwoo, has been hailed for “his total command over the instrument and its expressiveness” (San Francisco Examiner) and "ravishing pianism… a genuine poetic sensibility, a way of making the music his own and telling you things about it you had not heard before” (Chicago Tribute). The first South Korean to win the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (in June 2017), he has performed as soloist with the Baltimore, Fort Worth, and Houston Symphonies, the National Orchestra of Belgium, and the Sendai Philharmonic, under such conductors as Marin Alsop, Itzhak Perlman, Nicholas McGegan, and Leonard Slatkin. Recitals have taken him to Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, Salle Cortot in Paris, Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, and throughout Europe, Asia, and North America.
