Biennale Zeichen & Wunder: Steven Sloane & Symphoniker Hamburg

Νοσταλγική, underground βραδιά expressionism

8:00 μ.μ. - 5:00 π.μ.
Berliner Philharmonie

Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin, Germany

As part of the Biennale Zeichen & Wunder – on faith, hope, and doubt – two visionary works meet that open up views on religion, identity, and hope from different perspectives. Mendelssohn's "Reformation Symphony" combines Protestant tradition with Romantic expressiveness. In the second part, Noam Sheriff's monumental oratorio Mechaye Hametim ("The Resurrection of the Dead"), one of the most significant works of 20th-century Israeli music, sounds – a moving exploration of memory, loss, and renewal. Renowned performers such as American baritone Eric Owens, New York cantor Azi Schwartz, the Moran Choirs from Israel, and the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra under Steven Sloane come together for this evening.
