Sunn O))) is an experimental drone metal and 'power ambient' group from Seattle. Formed by Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, the ensemble is known for pushing the boundaries of drone music with extremely loud performances and unique soundscapes. Their work incorporates elements of black metal, dark ambient, and noise rock, characterized by heavily detuned guitars, slow tempos, and intense distortion. Over their career, they have evolved from an Earth tribute act to a highly collaborative project, working with artists like Boris, Nurse With Wound, and Scott Walker.
