Always, Already There Ensemble & Pamela Z
Underground βραδιά contemporary classical
A night of two halves featuring the Always, Already There Ensemble and vocal pioneer Pamela Z. The newly-formed ensemble, conducted by Jack Sheen, presents three UK premieres by composers Marisse Cato, Charles Uzor, and Corie-Rose Soumah. Harpist Chris Clarke joins for Uzor’s concerto Qualia, while Soumah’s work draws inspiration from spiritual moments of wonder. The performance concludes with a rare solo set from Pamela Z, renowned for her use of voice, electronics, and gesture-activated MIDI controllers. This event is part of George Lewis’s Afrodiasporic Incubator project, exploring experimental work by Afrodiasporic composers.
