Gabriele Coen Quartet and Giancarlo De Cataldo intertwine iconic music transcriptions with authorial narration. The project explores the artistic legacy of these innovators, reinterpreting their repertoire through the languages of jazz, rock, funk, and soul. Giancarlo De Cataldo, a prominent literary figure and magistrate, provides the narrative framework with short stories that reconstruct the historical context and poetic strength of songs like Heroes, Purple Rain, and Suzanne. Led by saxophonist Gabriele Coen, the quartet achieves a synthesis between songwriting and improvisation, transforming pop and rock milestones into refined jazz architectures.
