Debanjan Bhattacharjee + Spoorthi Rao

Two artists from different ends of the Indian classical spectrum share a single stage. The first half features Debanjan Bhattacharjee on the sarod, a fretless, deep-toned instrument. He explores his pioneering ‘Dhrupad Sarod’ concept, applying the ancient dhrupad style of playing to an instrument more commonly heard in khayal settings. Following the interval, Spoorthi Rao presents Carnatic vocal music from South India. Trained under the celebrated Ranjani-Gayatri duo, her performance features unique rhythmic structures and ragas. She is accompanied by violin, mridangam, and ghatam for an authentic kacheri experience. One ticket provides access to these two complete musical worlds.
