Sir Simon Rattle conducts the Freiburger Barockorchester in a performance of Bach's St Matthew Passion featuring Reinoud Van Mechelen. Lineup on Mood.
Following a performance of the St John Passion in February, Sir Simon Rattle leads the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra in Bach's monumental St Matthew Passion. Rattle, who began his career championing contemporary and romantic repertoires, has increasingly turned toward historically informed performances. This production features tenor Reinoud Van Mechelen as the Evangelist in a work known for its dramatic power and rich variety of styles and timbres.
